Free Website Design For Charities

Every month we build free websites for up to two registered charities. We design and build the site at no cost, and all we ask is that it is hosted with us, on any of our hosting plans.

Charities do important work on tight budgets, and a good website should not be out of reach. Lots of small charities are stuck with an out-of-date site, a page that only lives on Facebook, or no website at all, which makes it harder for people to find you, trust you and support you.

Your free website gives you a clear home online: what your charity does, how people can get involved, how to get in touch, and a donate button that takes supporters straight to where you already accept donations. We build it ourselves, set it up on secure hosting and look after it once it is live.

Places are by application only, and every application joins our waiting list.

How It Works, Step By Step

Send us an application with your registered charity number. We check it on the charity register and add you to our waiting list. Each month we take on up to two charities from the list, and we let you know when it is your turn.

We then plan your five pages with you, design and build the site, connect your donate button and set it up on your hosting with an SSL certificate. Once it is live, your website stays hosted with us and we look after it.

Who Can Apply

The free website is for registered charities only. You will need your charity number from the Charity Commission for England and Wales, OSCR in Scotland or the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, and we check every application against the register before it joins the waiting list.

It suits small and local charities best: community gardens, food banks, support groups, animal rescues, youth and sports charities, and anyone whose time and money are better spent on their cause than on a website.

Community interest companies (CICs), social enterprises and unregistered groups are not eligible.

Because the build is free, the website needs to stay hosted with us, on whichever hosting plan suits you. That way your site is always looked after by the people who built it.

Our Latest Free Charity Website

Digging The Dirt is a registered community garden charity in Alvaston, Derby. They already had their email with us but no website, so people could only find the garden on Instagram and Facebook.

We designed and built them a five page website around their own photos of the garden, with volunteering times, their Little Diggers children’s club, directions and ways to help all easy to find. It is hosted with us and we look after it.

Yes. We design and build your five page website for free. The only cost is your hosting, on whichever of our hosting plans suits you, and the website needs to stay hosted with us.

We take on up to two charities a month so every website gets the time it deserves. Applications join the waiting list in the order they arrive, and we let you know when your place comes up.

No. The free website is only for registered charities with a charity number. Community interest companies are not eligible, but we are happy to give you a price for a website in the usual way.

No. The free website needs to stay hosted with us. That is what lets us build it for free, and it means we are always there to look after it for you.

The free website covers five pages, which is enough for most charities. If you need more, get in touch and we will give you a price for the extra pages before any work starts.

By static we mean a brochure-style website: five information pages that tell people who you are, what you do and how to support you. It is built on WordPress, but it does not include extras like an online shop, event bookings or member logins. If you need those later, we can give you a price.
