How Much Does A Website Cost In The UK In 2026?

It’s the first thing almost everyone asks us, and it’s the question most web designers dodge. So here’s a straight answer, with real numbers, for what a small business website costs in the UK in 2026.

Prices vary a lot between companies, so we’ll show you ours and explain what pushes any website price up or down. That way you can compare quotes with your eyes open, whoever you end up going with.

What A Website Costs With Us

  • One-page website: from £150. Good for a tradesperson, a new business or anyone who just needs to look legitimate and be easy to contact.
  • Up to five pages: from £550. The usual setup for a small business: home, about, services, a gallery or reviews page, and contact.
  • Extra pages: £50 each, for things like individual service pages or location pages.
  • Shops, bookings and other features: priced on top, once we know what you need. A simple shop is a very different job to one with hundreds of products and delivery rules.

If you want a figure for your own project, our instant price guide gives you one in about two minutes.

Typical UK Website Prices In 2026

Across the UK you’ll see roughly three price bands, and it helps to know which one you’re looking at:

  • DIY builders (Wix, Squarespace and similar): around £10 to £40 a month. Cheap to start, but you build it yourself and you never own it. Stop paying and the site goes.
  • Freelancers and small studios: from a few hundred pounds up to around £3,000 for a small business site. This is where most local businesses land.
  • Agencies: often £3,000 to £10,000 and upwards, usually with project managers, longer timelines and bigger contracts.

None of these is wrong. A bigger budget doesn’t automatically mean a better website, and a cheap one isn’t always a bargain. What matters is what you get for the money.

What Pushes The Price Up

  • Number of pages. More pages means more design, more writing and more checking.
  • Writing the words. If you supply your own text it’s cheaper. If you want it written for you, and written so Google understands it, that takes time.
  • Selling online. Card payments, stock, delivery options and order emails all need setting up and testing.
  • Bookings and memberships. Calendars, deposits, reminders and logins add work.
  • Custom features. Calculators, quote forms or anything built just for you costs more than a standard page.

The Costs People Forget

A website price on its own isn’t the full picture. Make sure any quote you get covers, or at least mentions, these:

  • Domain name: usually around £10 to £20 a year for a .co.uk or .com.
  • Hosting: where your site lives. Ours starts at £9 a month and includes SSL, backups and security monitoring. See our website hosting for what’s included.
  • Business email: an address like [email protected] looks far more trustworthy than a Gmail address.
  • Updates and support: websites need looking after. Plugins, security fixes and small changes all come up over time.
  • Photos: your own photos nearly always beat stock images. Even good phone photos of your work make a difference.

Cheap Websites: What To Watch Out For

We get a lot of calls from people who paid very little for a website and then hit problems. The common ones are:

  • The designer still owns the domain, so you can’t move without their help.
  • Contact forms that look fine but never actually send.
  • No backups, so one bad update and the site is gone.
  • Copied templates with someone else’s text still in them, which Google doesn’t like.
  • Nobody to call when it breaks.

Before you pay anyone, ask who owns the domain, who owns the website once it’s paid for, and what happens if you want to move it later. A good designer will answer all three without hesitating.

Common Questions About Website Costs

(01)Do I Have To Pay Monthly For A Website?

Not for the website itself. With us you pay once for the build. The ongoing costs are hosting, your domain and any support you choose to add.

(02)Can I Update The Website Myself?

Yes. We build on WordPress, so you can change text, photos and prices yourself. We’ll show you how, and we’re there if you get stuck.

(03)How Long Does A Small Business Website Take?

A one-page site can be ready in days. A five-page site usually takes a couple of weeks, and the biggest factor is how quickly we get your text and photos.

(04)Is A Cheap Website Worth It?

It can be, as long as you own it, it works on phones, the forms reach you and Google can understand it. Price matters less than those basics.
